Post-Tension (PT) Cable Locator Service
We are your post-tension cable GPR scanning experts. As well as using steel reinforcement bar (rebar), post-tension (PT) cable can be used to reinforce concrete and improve the strength characteristics of a given slab of concrete. PT cable will most usually be grouped together in bundles of 3-8 strands. As PT cables are used alongside rebar, it is often necessary when scanning for PT cables to survey a larger area in order to fully understand the structural composition of the concrete.
Know What You Are Working On
By using PT cables, it is possible to reinforce concrete to the point of having a thinner slab with fewer upright pillars. These added structural benefits place a high reliance on the internal structure of the reinforced concrete. Cutting a PT cable can be very dangerous for the saw operator due to the very high tensile loads, as well as the risk to the structural integrity of the slab. While there are limitations to GPR concrete scanning, we will communicate these to you when on-site if problems arise. We pride our business on only promising what we can deliver. These limitations can include:
- Fresh concrete not having had enough time to cure
- Surface consistency of the slab
- Very high top reinforcement density within the slab can cause poor signal penetration to the bottom of the slab
- The slab may be too thick to provide a full scan of its internal structure
